General Function:

Under supervision of Operations Department performs diversified duties to assist in operations of the Districts paratransit programs.

Accountability:

This position reports to the Associate Manger of Operations and supervises District staff.

Position Requirements:

Schedules may change to meet operational needs.
First point of contact for drivers and/or late-night staff.
Coach drivers in all aspect of job-related duties in conjunction with training department.
Respond to all incidents and accidents by drivers during your shift. Report any problems that have occurred during the shift to the Associate Manager of Operations either by email, phone or the next day.
After discussion and review of the problem with Associate Manager of Operations, initiate disciplinary action when necessary in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Initiate complaint investigative activities. Provide details to Associate Manager of Operations, daily operations email group, and customer care.
Perform observations on drivers and vehicles as determined by Associate Manager of Operations.
Supervise night dispatcher and be able to take control of any problems that may occur during the shift. Also, be able to fill in as a dispatcher if necessary.
After all night shifts are completed, ensure that everyone is off the road, the building is empty and locked, and all vehicles are secured and ready for operation in the morning.
Ability to complete all required training programs and pass all applicable skills tests including: Transporting People with Special Needs, Defensive Driving, Mobility Device Securement Training, Operational Class-Room Training and On-the-Road Training, etc. Successful completion required prior to placement.
Heavily involved in training new drivers in above courses.
Must be able to work independently, exercise good judgment, and to request assistance where appropriate.
Other duties as assigned by the Associate Manager of Operations.
Physical Demands and Requirements:

Transit experience
Excellent driving record as verified by State Motor Vehicle department. Must hold a current valid drivers license including an endorsement which allows the transporting of passengers. Must have a current and valid Department of Transportation medical card.
Ability to safely operate larger vehicles.
Must be able to pass a physical demands screening.
Ability to independently determine location of street addresses by use of computerized navigation tools.
Ability to keep accurate records and create detailed reports related to operations. Basic math skills including addition, subtraction and multiplication.
Fluency in English required. Knowledge of another language helpful.
Friendly, customer-oriented personality.
Candidates must pass a company substance abuse screening and background screening.
Must have physical strength adequate to maneuver the bus and assist passengers on an emergency basis.
Physical ability to lift and carry a maximum of 50 pounds.
Physical ability to push, pull and tie down wheelchairs as well as to maneuver wheelchairs up or down ramps.

Responsible for contributing to a safe and secure work environment. Is cognizant of surroundings and acts in a safe manner at all times. Is knowledgeable of and adheres to OSHA, GNHTD and other safety standards, directives and advisories,
both written and verbal. Uses safety equipment and protective clothing as appropriate and necessary. Maintains good housekeeping habits in work area to avoid injury to self or others. Immediately reports to supervisor or Director of Risk Management any safety or security issue. Observes building access restrictions and locks doors when not present. Knows the nearest two safety exits and participates in safety drills.
