Must be between 16 and 56 years old Must have 15 high school credits and Must be a Canadian citizen OR permanent resident You will be required to join the Canadian Armed Forces Army Reserve to be employed in this position. This is NOT a civilian placement. Materials Management Technicians ensure that all the supplies and services necessary for Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) operations are available where and when they are required. They handle a variety of items such as food, fuel, heavy machinery, spare parts, stationery, and clothing. The primary responsibilities of Materials Management Technicians are to: Manage the purchasing, warehousing, shipping, receiving, stock control and disposal of obsolete stock and equipment. Receive, handle, and prepare items for shipment. Operate military vehicles weighing up to 10 tones and materials-handling equipment such as forklifts. Process invoices and prepare shipping documents. Order material from internal and external sources and purchase supplies. Deliver supplies and provide services to operational units. Perform record keeping, stock taking and inventory control. Maintain accounting and financial records. Reserve Force members usually serve part time at a Reserve Force Division in their community and may serve while going to school or working at a civilian job. They are paid during their training. They are not posted or required to do a military move. However, they can volunteer to move to another base. They may also volunteer for deployment on a military mission within or outside Canada. As a reservist, you will work one night a week, one weekend per month during the September to April timeframe. There may be opportunities for more employment throughout the year however that is not guaranteed. We offer full time summer employment, beginning 1 May until 31 Aug, this is a great opportunity for students. All successful applicants will be required to complete the Basic Military Qualification course (BMQ), either part time, (Friday to Sunday every other weekend for 11 weekends) normally held between September and March or full time in the summer (Monday to Friday) for 5 weeks. Upon completion of the Basic Military Qualification Course, candidates will be required to attend the Materials Management Technician training course for an 8-week period at Canadian Forces Base Borden. This course is run during the summer and all candidates are required to reside in the barracks for the duration of the course.
