Plant Manager for Established Electronics Manufacturer

Our client is a well-established, growing manufacturer renowned for designing and manufacturing custom circuit board assemblies for the medical, transportation, military, logistics and a variety of other industries. Entrepreneurial spirit has allowed the company to continually expand its range of services, maintain decades long customer relationships and provide careers for many dedicated employees.

We are partnering with them to find their next Plant Manager to lead their manufacturing facility. This role involves overseeing nearly 100 employees and managing all operational aspects of the plant. The ideal candidate will possess strong operational, technical, and people management skills.

The Plant Manager will be responsible for ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and collaboration. The focus will be on achieving results aligned with the organization's strategic goals, maintaining a competitive drive, and staying focused despite changing conditions.

Our client is looking to add Operational Leadership to their growing organization; the Plant Manager will lead the Plant through growth and change management and will be responsible for overseeing daily operations.   


As Plant Manager, you will be responsible for:


  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Portland Metro Area plant, ensuring production schedules are met while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Drive operational excellence through the use of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve operational targets.
  • Ensure adequate people and equipment capacity to support forecasted build requirements and new product development programs.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of production professionals, fostering a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Create a strong team environment that fosters the company culture and strives for continual improvement.
  • Maintain and enhance the plant’s quality management system, ensuring compliance with industry standards, including ISO 9001, ISO13485, and CMMC requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations, and implementing safety programs and practices to minimize workplace hazards and incidents.
  • Develop and manage the plant’s budget, control costs, and optimize resource utilization, while identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
  • Work closely with the customer service and sales teams to meet customer requirements and expectations, ensuring the plant’s operations align with customer demands, particularly for custom and urgent projects.
  • Decision-making focused on implementing practical, timely solutions, with a leadership style that is firm and goal-oriented, yet motivates, trains, and engages others enthusiastically. The emphasis is on building rapport and relationships with individuals and groups, requiring an outgoing, poised, and persuasive communication style.


KEY COMPETENCIES & SKILLS:

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong ERP and MES systems experience.

Skills and Competencies:


  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proven track record of driving operational improvements and achieving production goals.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Certifications:


  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • PMP or other relevant project management certification is a plus.
