Infrastructure/Data Cloud Architect (Remote)

We have an immediate need for a contract-to-hire Infrastructure/Data Cloud Architect to join our client, a national chain of convenience stores and gas stations. The Infrastructure/Data Cloud Architect will be responsible for shaping end-to-end data lifecycle solutions and driving efficiency aligned with business strategies.

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina (Remote or Hybrid working 2 days onsite per week)

This job expects to pay about $75 - 76 per hour plus benefits.

What You Will Do: 

• Design end-to-end architecture for a unified data platform, covering data ingestion, transformation, operations, and consumption.
• Deliver architecture initiatives demonstrating clear business efficiency aligned with business strategies across initiatives in digital, cloud, and open-source technologies.
• Take end-to-end responsibility and accountability for architecture initiatives.
• Develop architecture roadmaps and delivery blueprints for technology design.
• Exhibit expertise in Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Ansible, SQL, Terraform, Kafka, and Azure CLI.
• Apply hands-on development experience using Databricks, with proficiency in Azure, AWS, or other cloud technologies.

What Gets You the Job:

• Excellent coding skills in Python or Scala, preferably Python.
• 10+ years of experience in architecture, design, implementation, and analytics solutions, with a total of 12+ years in the Data Engineering domain.
• Designed and implemented at least 2-3 projects end-to-end in Databricks.
• Responsible for setting best practices around Databricks CI/CD.
• 3+ years of experience in Databricks, including components like Delta Lake, dbConnect, db API 2.0, SQL Endpoint Photon engine, Unity Catalog, Databricks workflows orchestration, Security management, Platform governance, and Data Security.
• Well-versed with Databricks Lakehouse concept and its implementation in enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of Data warehousing and governance/security standards around Databricks.
• Knowledge of cluster optimization and integration with various cloud services.
• Proficient in creating complex data pipelines.
• Strong in SQL and Spark-SQL.
• Experience with batch and streaming data pipeline design.
• Extensive knowledge of Spark and Hive data processing framework.
