Accounting Manager (Studio Accounting)

We have an immediate need for an Accounting Manager to join an entertainment media production company for a contract position that is remote with occasional onsite days in Santa Monica, CA. The Accounting Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing their financial operations from now through year-end, with potential for extension. This role requires a strong background in studio accounting, international financial standards, and process improvement.

Location: Remote (Must reside in Southern California)

This job expects to pay about $55-75/hour plus benefits

What You Will Do:

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in to Corporate, individual project’s activity in our general ledger, including funding, and bank reconciliations
• Review and present variances between actual results and forecast estimates, highlighting issues and business trends for management
• Assist in preparation and presentation of monthly departmental reporting package to management
• Work closely with Production Accountants on analyzing various costs
• Review and approve coding for employee reimbursements (e.g., travel, per diem, etc.)
• Support and work closely with auditors handling audit inquiries, including facilitating and organizing the necessary deliverables
• Drive and participate in implementing/improving processes and controls to create efficiencies in the department
• Prepare and/or approve funding requests for various projects
• Oversee allocations of overhead to current films in production
• Be a strategic partner to executive management, content, and production leaders, and outside production partners
• Consult with Corporate on hedging currencies for overseas payments

What Gets You The Job: 

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting roles, preferably in studio or production house environments.
• Strong proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Intact) and advanced Excel skills.

• Experience in financial reporting and/or operational accounting; including overseeing Chart of Account set up, AP & AR processing, Treasury and Cash flow processes.
• Must have working understanding of union and guild agreements.
• Foreign currency gain/loss experience a plus
