HCA Solutions is seeking qualified RNs for the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System, Fort Wayne, IN. The VA business hours/hours of operation are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including holidays. Work Schedule: Hours will vary depending on the unit. Staff will be placed into a float pool and will be required to work varying shifts including days, nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Shifts will be scheduled for tours of 8 or 12 hours in length. VA management will determine the duties for each individual area based on the current needs of the facility.

Responsibilities:

Obtain patient history and pertinent family history.
Assess patient and plan appropriate nursing care.
Document plan of care and care given in patients medical record.
Verify transcription of physicians orders, no verbal orders are to be accepted.
Carry out prescribed physicians orders and document inpatient medical record.
Communicate pertinent patient information to charge nurse and/or physician as appropriate.
Re-assess patients condition and revise plans of care based on identified nursing problem.
Administer medications and Intravenous (IV) therapies
Possess knowledge of actions and usual dosages of most commonly used emergency drugs and their location on crash cart.
Assess and document patient response to medication that have been administered.
Interpret cardiac rhythms and their implications.
Provide patient/family education regarding prescribed medications/therapies and surgical/diagnostic procedures that shall be accomplished.
Assess patient/family knowledge level, implement plan of instructions and record patient/family demonstrated level of understanding.
Operate defibrillator, EKG machines and cardiac monitor and other emergency technical equipment.
Review all laboratory data, and electronic medical records.
Perform skin assessment and initiate measures to prevent Hospital Acquired Pressure Ulcer (HAPU).
Recognize and initiate appropriate measures in emergencies and assist with surgical/diagnostic procedures.
Qualifications:

Graduation from a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
A current license in at least one (1) state, territory, or commonwealth in the U.S. or the District of Columbia.
Minimum of one (1) year of direct patient care experience within the last three (3) years
All OR RNs shall possess a minimum of three years of experience, and the most recent two years of experience shall have been in the OR. All OR RNs shall possess surgical RN experience and competency in at least two of the following areas: orthopedics, neurology, general surgery, peri- vascular, plastics, ophthalmology, urology, ENT and cardiac/thoracic.
Current certification in CPR by an American Health Association Vendor.
Current Basic Life Support certification & ACLS certification
Current TB Skin test
Current Immunizations
