What is an Electrical Design Technician?
The Electrical Design Technician will assist the R&D Department in the design of a variety of electromechanical products. Support development, manufacturing, and regulatory activities, using basic knowledge of design principles and good thinking ability.

What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have a technical degree or certificate in electronics or industrial controls with a minimum of two years relevant experience. THT/SMT component and PCB assembly required. Schematic, soldering, and circuit troubleshooting required. Ability to perform calibrations, product testing, and record/summarize data required.


Duties and Responsibilities

1. Participate in new and existing product ideation initiatives.
2. Collaborate with R&D Engineers, outside vendors, and/or consultants on projects.
3. Modify 3D parts, assemblies, and drawings.
4. Modify PCB layouts utilizing design software; test and calibrate PCB assemblies.
5. Utilize BOM’s to procure electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical components.
6. Assemble PCBA’s, sub-systems, and complete electromechanical systems for prototype, alpha, and beta testing.
7. Utilize small and large tools, hoists, dollies, and other devices when necessary.
8. Perform testing; including test fixturing, set up, monitoring, and reporting.
9. Assist with installation, start up, and troubleshooting of equipment in lab, field, and beta test environments.
10. Comply with all safety procedures in each area assigned, including but not limited to, wearing protective clothing, special handling of chemicals, special handling of product, safety/rescue equipment usage, etc.
11. Perform material handling activities such as packing, receiving, picking, lifting, moving, and using material handling equipment when necessary.
12. Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the company, as well as suppliers, customers, and peers effectively.
13. Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the company.
14. Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
15. Maintain work area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
16. Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.
17. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Education

• Technical degree or certificates (electronics or industrial controls). Additional licenses, certifications, or additional education preferred. • Minimum two years relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment • Critical thinking and analytical skills a must • THT/SMT component and PCB assembly required • Schematic, soldering, and circuit troubleshooting required • Ability to perform calibrations, product testing, and record/summarize data required • PCB schematic capture and layout experience a plus • AutoCad and Inventor 3-D modeling software experience a plus • 4-20 loop device and HART experience a plus. • Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.


Physical and Technical Environment

• Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pound and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds using proper lifting techniques or other available resources. • Regularly required to walk or stand, bend or twist, climb, reach with hands or arms. • Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs, utilizing elevator. • Must respond to changing requirements and working conditions. • Exposure to noise, dust, heat and cold on a regular basis. • Exposure to machine and tool hazards requiring care and attention to safety rules and standards. • Minimal travel required, exposure to varying environments and cultures at the job site, changing deadlines, strict time constraints.
