Gray Solutions, LLC seeks an Sr. Automation Engineer in Lexington, Kentucky. This position will support the Automation & Controls team in designing and implementing innovative outcome-based solutions for our market-leading enterprise customers. Duties incl.: Leading the estimating and proposal phase of major projects incl. research and analysis based on customer proposals, specifications, or other information to assist in pre-project planning; Designing automation systems based on partner or customer provided control descriptions, joint-design sessions w/ partners or customers, analysis of existing operations or other means to develop functional design; Developing well-documented and flexible PLC code in a standard programming language from blank sheet state; Designing and developing HMIs. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering or foreign equivalent and 9 years of experience in the following: design, develop and implementation of PLC/HMI based control and automation systems for various customers w/ demonstrated experience; managing and implementing industrial projects from design through commissioning using current technology; utilizing PLC (Rockwell/Siemens) programming or DCS platforms, such as DeltaV, Foxboro/Schneider, or Honeywell; utilizing HMI programming skills either in Wonderware Intouch, SIMATIC WinCC (TIA Portal), and the Rockwell FactoryTalk View platform; and project management experience, incl. project scope, budget, goals, technical and functional requirements, balancing customer needs and expectations w/ scope and budget through full-scope of project from design, commissioning, and long-term. Travel is a regular expectation of this role and depends upon the location of projects and customers, the stage of project execution, and your role in the project. Travel may also be required for annual company meetings and some training. Project-based travel to customer sites and team check-ins can range 15-25% during the design phase, 0-10% during the implementation phase, and 40-75% during installment and commissioning phases.
