Mainland Engineering Corporation was established in March 1994 to provide structural engineering services designing the buildings in the growing region of the Lower Mainland area of BC. To fill the growing demand of civil engineering in the fast growing city of Surrey we started providing Civil Engineering services to the developers in 1999.

Job requirements

Languages
English

Education
College, CEGEP or other non- university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years

Experience
2 years to less than 3 years

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
Work under pressure, Attention to detail, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Standing for extended periods

Area of Specialization
Construction design and supervision, Geotechnical, Land planning and development

Computer and Technology knowledge
Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS Word



Civil Engineering Experience
Buildings and structures, Waste handling sites, Drainage and irrigation system, Pipelines, Water control system and structures

Civil Engineering Technologists Specific Skills
Prepare engineering designs and drawings, Prepare construction specifications, costs and material estimates

Civil Engineering Technicians Specific Skills
Participate in field surveys, inspections or technical investigations

Main Duties

• Assist in developing engineering specifications and drawings.
• Participate in field surveys, inspections or technical investigations.
• Prepare engineering designs and drawings.
• Confer with engineers about preparing plans.
• Use computer aided design software under the charge of engineers.
• Evaluate preconstruction field conditions.
• Observe project sites and evaluate contractor’s work to detect problems with a design.
• Help to ensure that project construction confirms to design specifications and applicable codes.
• Develop plans and estimate costs for constructing systems and operating facilities.
• Prepare reports and document project activities and data.
• Set up and help maintain project files and records.
