Salary: two hundred twenty-five thousand dollars per year

Responsibilities:
Duties include the following:
1. Independently generate differentiated investment ideas based on fundamental research and analysis of company financials, business models, competitive dynamics, and industry trends;
2. Build and maintain company-specific financial models in Excel, leveraging accounting and financial statements, to perform in-depth financial analysis and valuation analysis;
3. Develop economic analyses to analyze and forecast economic trends using historical data, economic indicators, consumer, and producer surveys, and statistical techniques;
4. Conduct proprietary due diligence to supplement company and financial analysis, using research methods such as consumer and/or producer surveys and conducting interviews with industry experts;
5. Regularly write investment reports and present investment ideas to Sector Head, Portfolio Manager, and the Dorsal Investment Team;
6. Monitor company-specific news-flow, industry trends, and consumer-spending or economic events, reporting daily key developments to Sector Head and Portfolio Manager;
7. Monitor changes in personal consumption trends by income cohort, geography, and industry (discretionary vs. non-discretionary) using consumer transaction card spending data (debit and credit card monitors), leveraging data visualization tools such as Tableau;
8. Research and evaluate the impact of US public policy to aggregate consumption and saving trends in areas such as tariffs and trade, tax policy, labor & wage policy, fiscal stimulus, Social Security, and environmental regulation;
9. Maintain Dorsal’s internal consumer spending and economic data infrastructure using public and proprietary data sources, using statistical techniques to develop and report on research insights; and
10. Participate in industry events and conferences, leading meetings with company management teams.
5% domestic travel per year required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Employer requires a candidate to have a bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, or a closely related field plus one (1) year of work experience in an investment banking setting working with mergers and acquisitions advisory services, IPO advisory services, and corporate financing.
Candidate must also have the following:
1. Demonstrated ability to work independently on multiple tasks and projects, such as business competition analysis and company valuation, gained through one (1) year of work experience;
2. Demonstrated ability analyzing accounting and financial statements gained through one (1) year of work experience;
3. Demonstrated knowledge of financial modeling gained through one (1) year of work experience; and
4. Demonstrated knowledge of data tables and VLOOKUP formulas in Microsoft Excel gained through one (1) year of work experience.
All years of experience may be gained concurrently.
