Software Engineer (Whatnot Inc.; Culver City, CA): Develop and deliver highly scalable distributed solutions across Whatnot’s full software stack to promote positive end-user experience and measurable business growth. Translate rapidly emerging business and project requirements into actionable technical specifications to drive software development initiatives. Lead the project road mapping, and arbitrate complex tradeoffs to optimize software functionality, scalability, and availability while minimizing tech debt. Conceptualize, build, and deploy high-impact software features and infrastructure within an Agile development environment. Conduct regular assessments of application performance, uptime, and scalability to ensure that Whatnot’s platform and tooling continue to meet both internal and industry standards of excellence. Conduct root cause analysis on identified errors and develop corrective solutions in a timely manner. Keep abreast of emerging developments in the e-retailer industry, and identify opportunities to incorporate cutting-edge software solutions into Whatnot’s software platform. Telecommuting permitted from anywhere in the U.S.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or related field, plus three (3) years of work experience as a Software Engineer or related occupation.

Must have experience with: building scalable systems utilizing Python, Elixir, or JavaScript; working across the stack (backend and frontend); Data and Growth Systems (Notifications); and building data pipelines with SQL or dbt.

Salary: $185,000 to $225,000 per year
