Duties:

Conduct Fund Designation optimization for clients. Develop and test algorithms, computer programs, and analysis tools relating to large databases of insurance policy histories and characteristics to portfolio performance and risk metrics. Write technical documentation for internal use and distribution to clients. Work as a member of a multi-faceted research and modeling team. Create and deliver technical presentations of analysis methods and results to coworkers, AIR senior management, and clients. Telecommuting permitted.

Requires a Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Earth Science, Geology, Environmental Sciences or a related field; plus 3 years of related experience. Requires 3 years of experience in all of the following: 1. Collecting and analyzing data related to severe weather, its impacts on properties and associated insurance claims, and other assessments of catastrophe risk; 2. Writing computer programs to perform statistical analyses; 3. Creating visualizations of data, including time series and spatial data; 4. Writing detailed and organized scientific text and documentation; 5. Developing content on risks from natural hazards for a wide range of audience; 6. Creating version-controlled programing codes; 7. Analyzing and optimizing multi-million-dollar insurance portfolios, accounting for weather risk and based upon optimization, regression, clustering, statistical, and/or other machine learning techniques; and 8.
