Work with other engineering team members to build new features and improve the existing architecture of the Databricks platform, including the design, development, testing of the software solutions with a high level of reliability, scalability, and security, utilizing knowledges in C++, Java, Scala, RPC protocols, multi-threading, functional programming principles and data analysis skills. Detailed job duties include: Use required programming langugages (e.g., Scala) to develop and improve features that Databricks' customer experiences; Write Unit Tests and Integration Tests for the code to ensure the correctness and avoid regressions; Use Scala and Spark to develop various Databricks backend features and support customer's development environment for SQL, R and Python programming languages in Databricks' Define, design and use internal APIs, write asynchronous RPC calls, and procedures to facilitate communication between Databricks' internal components; Use SQL, Python, and R to query internal databases to perform data analysis tasks including creating dashboards to monitor operational metrics and track adoption of newly released features; Define metrics and instrument frontend/backend code bases to monitor events and collect data for usage analysis; Develop micro services that provides unified cloud platform for data scientist to do data analysis on cloud platforms provided by all cloud providers; Participate in engineering process for design and development of various features; Review code and design submitted by peer engineers to ensure compliance with Databricks code quality standards; Provide on-call support for the engineering team's responsibilities including advanced support for challenging customer issues; Participate in technical interview process for new team members. $120,000 - $180,000 / Year. Minimum job requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field. Must be proficient with at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Java, or C++; Must have knowledge of the frameworks and libraries including Scala and Spark; Must have knowledge of data analysis languages and tools including SQL and R.
