JOB DESCRIPTION
The Proposal Writer reviews, analyzes and summarizes prospective customer requirements included in solicitation documents (as defined below). The Writer, through guidance from more senior colleagues, researches information, obtains consensus and prepares responses to commodity-focused solicitations. The work of the Proposal Writer includes interfacing with numerous departments within NRG to obtain material necessary to prepare responses to solicitations.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Reviewing, analyzing, assessing and summarizing solicitation requirements that are received from the Marketing and Sales departments or other internal channels.
Reviewing materials received from bid notification services and redirecting to appropriate areas within NRG based on the type of product or service being solicited.
Collaborating with project teams to prepare compelling response materials including: Presentations, Requests For Information (RFIs), Invitations to Bid (ITBs), Requests For Qualifications (RFQs), Requests For Proposals (RFPs) and other written materials used for internal and external purposes involving sales or business origination opportunities.
Coordinating materials, statistics, and information with various groups within NRG, including, among others, Marketing Communications, Regulatory, Government Affairs, Supply Chain and Legal. Leading cross-functional team discussions involving solicitation responses.
Expanding and maintaining the RFP Teams Content Library by integrating material developed for responses; updating the Content Library based on schedules driven by external financial reporting dates and public announcements (i.e. acquisitions, divestitures, new market entry, product or service offerings).
Assisting business development and sales teams customize presentations and fact sheets for use in sales presentations.
Researching and fact-checking data and information to ensure consistency in solicitation responses and publicly released information in other company communications.
Consolidating, editing, conforming and integrating modular responses from individual contributors to prepare responses to commodity-focused solicitations.
Proofreading, performing quality assurance of written product to ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency with external communication standards Producing graphics, diagrams and illustrations for proposal material.
Ensuring solicitation responses are in compliance with all requestor instructions, timeliness, and approval protocols.
Multi-tasking in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment, as well as the proven ability to quickly adapt to shifting priorities and workflow.
Focusing and delivering material that is error-free through attention to detail.


Education:
Bachelors degree in English, Journalism or Communications required.


Additional knowledge & skills:
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to maintain composure under pressure.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio and other database applications.
Experience with Adobe InDesign desktop publishing software desired, but not mandatory.
Experience with Adobe Photoshop software desired, but not mandatory.


Experience:
Minimum of three years of professional related work experience required.


Working conditions:
Majority of work performed from a seated position in front of a computer.
Open office layout.
Professional, fast-paced, high-intensity office environment.
Commitment to working hours outside of standard work schedule to accommodate deadlines.
Work schedule 8:00 AM to 5:00 AM or possibly as early as 7:00 AM


PAY DETAILS
$32 - $35/hour
PAYABLE TERMS
Recruiters receive contract commission payments once per month. Payment is processed after work for each contractor is verified at the end of the month. The commission is paid out on the first pay period of the following month. Depending on when your candidate starts, the first payment may take 4 to 6 weeks to receive.
