What is the Opportunity?
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for all purchasing related activities and for ensuring the delivery of materials/ services to the site occurs on time. This person will also ensure the timely receipt of goods in SAP, as well as tracking deliveries and return of rental equipment.This position acts as a liaison between offices and field workers and must possess strong knowledge of procurement policies and procedures.
What Youll Do Here
Understand and adhere to all of Project polices, particularly to the procurement and safety policies.
Maintain high data integrity when inputting records in the companys database systems.
Provide reporting and analysis on procurement activities, variances and impacts.
Facilitate the implementation of business specific contracts for services and/or materials.
Work collaboratively with key project stakeholders to ensure requirements are captured in the total cost of ownership solution.
Relationship management with vendors and internal stakeholders on all procurement related matters.
Create purchase orders in SAP, confirm purchase quantities and pricing with vendor.
Real time resolution of price, delivery, account assignment, material and service-related exceptions.
Increase the use and refinement of Aecons material master data.
Ensure that all packing slips have been verified for all pertinent information.
Track all rental equipment and tooling.
Generate Vendor Corrective Measures when required.
What You Bring to the Team
5+ years experience within a purchasing department.
Post-secondary education or work experience in a related field.
Technical depth of knowledge in the areas of construction related materials and services.
Knowledge of procurement principles, techniques, practices and ethics.
Knowledge of fundamentals of contract law, negotiating business agreements, and laws of requesting tenders, proposals, and quotations.
Proven organizational skills and ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment and be service oriented.
Ability to build positive working relationships with professionals within industry and internal clients.
Strong communication skills; ability to distill strategy into a clear, compelling and concise narrative.
Solid research skills and commitment to continually learn about new products.
Attention to detail, mathematical and analytical skills.
Strong interpersonal skills are essential.
Understanding of ERP systems, knowledge of SAP planning system would be an asset.
Ability to analyze complex data and derive well supported linear and non-linear premises.
