Summary:
Our F.A.S.T nurses are a Flexible, Adaptable, Supportive and multi-Talented team. They support our nursing units throughout the organization by applying the nursing process with patients and families, integrating principles that reflect sensitivity to their age-specific/developmental needs, gender, culture, religion, psychosocial and socioeconomic backgrounds in order to provide evidence-based, holistic care in a manner that respects the worth and dignity of each individual.
The F.A.S.T nurse is cross trained to a variety of specialties and is seen as a dependable resource to other staff as a result of their diverse skill set. They support units across the organization and will flex their shift based on operational requirements. The roles may include med-surg, surgical, orthopedics, intermediate care, and various throughput initiatives. It is also possible that a F.A.S.T nurses may be called upon to spend extended periods of time in one nursing unit to help balance long-term absences (i.e. illness, leaves of absence, maternity leave, etc.) or to support fluctuations in census or acuity.

F.A.S.T team staff work every third weekend, and have flexibility with scheduling and holiday rotation. In addition to the flexibility of their role F.A.S.T team nurses will have competitive pay and an additional differential.
Minimum Qualifications:
- One year of acute care nursing experience
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Currently licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut
- Possess the knowledge and skills necessary to assess health needs of patients and to perform nursing care in a safe, caring manner
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN or ADN/ASN and actively enrolled in a BSN program
- Epic experience
