Grassroots Carbon Public Benefit LLC offers nature-based soil carbon storage solutions based on regenerative agriculture. Nature based solutions addresses climate change, biodiversity loss, and food security. Regenerative agriculture on grasslands promotes the use of natural and holistic ranching practices that focus on soil health, biodiversity, and animal welfare. This can result in healthier and more nutrient-dense food. By improving soil health on grasslands, regenerative agriculture can enable a diverse range of ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration, nutrient cycling, and habitat for wildlife. Grasslands are highly efficient at capturing and storing carbon, making them a valuable tool in the fight against climate change. Soil carbon credits are a way to incentivize the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices that promote soil health and carbon sequestration. Grassroots Carbon brings together thousands of ranchers and hundreds of carbon credit buyers, such as Nestle and Shopify, who are seeking to acquire high quality, measured and independently certified soil carbon credits. Across Americas hundreds of millions of acres of grassland, Grassroots Carbon has paid over $2 million to ranchers to date to restore soil health and to accelerate the Regenerative Agriculture movement.We are a team of soil scientists, ranchers, software engineers, entrepreneurs and more from a diverse array of industries, and backgrounds, including Amazon, Shell, Expedia, and Stanford University. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Project Manager to oversee a large multi-year soil carbon project based on regenerative agriculture and grasslands using standards such as Verra and Climate Action Reserve. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting. The project manager will work closely with the carbon credit buyers, ranchers, and the carbon standards to ensure the successful completion of the project. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure timely and effective implementation of the project.
- Work closely with Grassroots Carbon teams to identify and enroll suitable ranches.
- Ensure that the project meets all Verra and Climate Action Reserve requirements and standards.
- Develop and implement monitoring and reporting protocols to track project progress and goals.
- Work closely with the project team to identify and address any project-related issues or challenges.
- Provide regular progress updates and reports to senior management and external stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for project expansion or replication and develop strategies to scale up the project.
- Develop and sustain positive relationships with third-party vendors while proactively identifying opportunities for cost-saving measures
- Identify areas for improvement to reduce costs and to scale up the overall project ahead of schedule.
Requirements Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in environmental science, agriculture, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in the field of carbon offsetting or climate change mitigation.
- Experience working with carbon standards such as Verra and Climate Action Reserve.
- Experience of monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) process for Carbon projects
- Experience with Project Tracking systems (Asana, etc)
- Knowledge of CRM Systems and BI tools ( ability to generate own reports
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications - PMP Certification
- Experience with Project Tracking systems (Asana, etc)
- Experience of managing a multi-million dollar budget
- Strong knowledge of regenerative agriculture.
