Network Operations Engineer
-Contract Onsite Role (New York City)

RedStream Technology is recruiting for a Network Operations Engineer to join the service implementation team of a global leader in public safety systems. As a Network Operations Engineer you will have a key role in validating the functionality of the companys emergency response systems in New York City.

Responsibilities Include

• Providing detailed network analysis to other engineers in support of a high availability mission-critical public safety system. 
• Respond to network emergencies as required
• Validate network performance for highly secure LAN and WAN segments
• Maintain physical and virtual network elements
• Monitor physical and virtual network elements and network performance for proactive and preventative maintenance
• Work in a strict change management environment

Skills and Qualifications

This role requires a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in designing, configuring, and maintaining large IP networks of a regional/national network service provider; and/or at least 5 years of hands-on experience in designing, configuring, and maintaining mid-large enterprise IP networks that peer with multiple network providers in a redundant manner. Also required are proven experience and extensive knowledge related to the following technical areas: 

Networking-Related Skills

• Experience with virtualized networks
• Experience with VMware NSX-t
• Advanced knowledge of IP Networking and Ethernet LAN
• Extensive hands-on experience in dynamic routing protocols which include BGP, OSPF and EIGRP; provisioning and managing MPLS services; Ethernet LAN (VLANs, spanning tree, etc.); LAN/WAN QoS and firewalls
• Extensive hands-on experience in troubleshooting complex network issues on IP and Ethernet networks, network peering, dynamic routing protocols and spanning tree
• Extensive hands-on experience in implementing high availability and redundancy in LAN/WAN (e.g., VRRP, HSRP, redundant routes, etc.)
• Hands-on experience supporting VOIP systems in an IP LAN/WAN

VOIP Skills

• Advanced knowledge of VOIP fundamentals
• Good working knowledge of the SIP protocol
• Ability to troubleshoot telephony issues in a high availability VOIP deployment
• Good understanding of telecommunications protocols and architecture

Education/Certifications

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field.
• Certifications: CCNA, CCNP or higher
