Job Title : Lead Test Automation Engineer
Locations: Rancho Cordova, CA
Type: Contract Job Description: Mandatory Qualification: - This Classification must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience aligning IT systems with organizational business processes. At least three (3) years of that experience must have been in a lead capacity.
- Bachelor's Degree in an IT-related or Engineering field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in automation, API and mobile domain with demonstrated expertise in implementing tools as per industry standards
- A minimum of three (3) years in the last five (5) years leading and/or implementing automated, API and mobile regression architecture in cloud-based framework including design, implementation, and testing applications migration strategies using industry best practices
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in designing, developing, and implementing testing frameworks and tools using Selenium for automated regression, APl and mobile testing.
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in programming and scripting languages such as Java, Python, Java Script
Project Background - The current automation regression testing framework was built in Visual Basic (VB) for the automaton tool Unified Functional Testing (UFT). The framework was built 15 years ago using VB code. With the progress of Windows OS, UFT upgrades, Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and Browser upgrades, the current framework is difficult to maintain and utilize. A new automation framework and tools are required as per industry standards that can provide better test coverage by including new types of tests that were not possible with older tools. As an example, the current UFT version in use is not supported for Angular applications. A new automation tool is needed that supports the testing framework to support cross browser test automation, API, and mobile application testing. An automation regression industry standard framework and tools will provide better automation features and help reduce manual testing efforts while increasing efficiency. These tools will provide test scheduling and results analysis features. These features make it easier to manage large test suites and provides better integration capabilities by integrating with Continuous Integration/Continuous
- Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines. CI/CD will automatically trigger tests when a new code build is deployed, making it easier to detect defects early in the development cycle. New automation tools will improve test maintenance by providing features like test management and version control which will help streamline the automation process.
- The Selenium framework will test automation regression using a risk-based testing approach. Selenium Architecture supports a key word driven approach for scripting and is an open source. It will provide direct SSH integration, and can execute multiple tests over multiple browsers. Selenium can be used in the future for in-sprint automation by delivery team testers, eliminating the need of manual end to end testing. In-sprint automation scripts created by delivery teams in every sprint will expand the automation regression coverage for CSE over time.
