Electrical Design Engineer Architecture Firm
General Summary
Our client, a top-tier architecture firm, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their design team. The Electrical Design Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including architectural, structural, and civil engineering, to deliver high-quality electrical system designs. Reporting to a Managing Director or Director, the role involves creating contract and presentation documents to meet client specifications.


Essential Duties
To succeed in this role, the Electrical Design Engineer will:




  • Perform engineering duties in planning and designing electrical systems such as power distribution, lighting, and fire alarms for various structures and buildings.




  • Contribute to design elements for project completion with clear objectives on plans, surveys, investigations, and structures in collaboration with team members.




  • Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including plans, specifications, and due diligence reports.




  • Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of engineering work across multiple projects, ensuring timely and budget-conscious project completion.




  • Engage with clients, officials, contractors, and project team members to maintain project alignment.




  • Correct and update drawings, assist project teams, and ensure adherence to technical policies and procedures.




  • Delegate and collaborate with team members, reviewing work for accuracy and quality.




  • Support the Project Manager in coordinating project designs with other disciplines, including attendance at project meetings.




  • Conduct specific engineering studies and design analyses, assisting the Project Manager in establishing budgets, cost estimates, and project schedules.




  • Review shop drawings, record changes, and communicate effectively with suppliers, contractors, and client representatives.




  • Conduct on-site inspections as needed.




  • Develop one-line diagrams, panel schedules, short circuit calculations, lighting plans, and perform photometric calculations.




  • Design fire alarm devices and coordinate low voltage device layouts.




  • Prepare electrical drawings using drafters or designers and develop specifications.




  • Coordinate designs with vendor-supplied equipment and prepare equipment layouts and general arrangements.




Required Skills and Abilities




  • Strong and versatile building design and presentation skills.




  • Proficiency in electrical engineering software such as SKM, AGI, and Visual.




  • Solid understanding of the project development process for commercial, retail, and mixed-use buildings.




  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.




  • Highly organized, detail-driven, and conscientious.




Education and Experience




  • Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical engineering.




  • 2-5 years of experience in electrical engineering design, specifically within commercial architecture projects.
