Position Title: Police Officer (Full-Time) Salary: $45,000 - $64,000 plus benefits and shift differential
Pay Scale:
4+ years: $29.27/hr, increasing to $29.86 and $30.46 in 2025 3-4 years: $27.81/hr, increasing to $28.37 and $28.94 2-3 years: $26.34/hr, increasing to $26.87 and $27.41 1-2 years: $24.15/hr, increasing to $24.63 and $25.13 0-1 years: $21.95/hr, increasing to $22.40 and $22.85 Incentives: Successful applicants who accept employment will receive a $10,000 retention bonus and full reimbursement for OPOTA certification, contingent on a five-year commitment.

Job Requirements Age: 21-40 years at time of appointment Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or intent to become one Education: High School Graduate or GED License: Valid drivers license Language: Ability to read and speak English Vision: Correctable to 20/20 Certification: OPOTA certification required at appointment Additional Requirements: Candidates must have a valid police officer physical agility certificate from Cuyahoga Community College or an OPOTA certificate within one year prior to applying.
Hiring Process: Applicants must pass the NTN entrance exam with a minimum score of 70%, complete the Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA), and submit the Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ). Qualifying candidates will provide a valid physical agility test certificate and undergo background screening, polygraph test, drug screening, psychological evaluation, physical exam, and a panel interview.
Additional Credits for NTN Exam:
Veteran: 20% credit for Ohio veterans with 180+ days of duty and honorable discharge Law Enforcement Experience: 20% credit for those with 2,080+ hours as a law enforcement officer Associate Degree: 10% credit with 20+ quarter units in relevant courses Bachelors Degree: 20% credit with 45+ quarter units in relevant courses Note: Maximum combined bonus credits cannot exceed 20%.
