Safety Manager

Duties:

• Develop and direct the health and safety policy and procedures of the organization


• Maintain a current safety manual


• Provide workplace programs including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, CPR and PPE among others


• Provide workplace programs for driver safety training and monitoring (vehicles, trucks and equipment)


• Conduct audits and reviews to ensure compliance is understood and maintained, facilities are following procedures and equipment is within standards


• Initiate worker’s compensation filings and analysis for multiple states


• Track, complete and submit state and federal safety documents/permits


• Management of DOT standards and compliance including driver files, drug testing, E-Roads ELD and licensing


• Work with insurance broker and captive to obtain legal updates, assessments and advice for the organization


• Organize and conduct monthly safety meetings


• Communicate with management on safety goals and objectives


• Maintain safety supplies and inventory for all facilities


• Other tasks as needed and/or assigned by management

Requirements:

• Candidates must have at least a bachelor’s degree in a related field


• Candidates must have at least 6 years of experience in Safety/DOT, preferably in a management role


• Candidates must be OSHA 30 hour certified


• Candidates must be able to travel up to 50%      


• Candidates must be able to work overtime and weekends as necessary for job functions

Desired:

• Knowledge/experience with DOT and MSHA are preferred


• Certifications in CSP, SMS, or ASP are preferred
