Job Title: Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineering

Location:
This role will be based at our Middletown, VA facility. Relocation assistance has not been approved for this role.
What will you do?
• Supervises the team of engineers to execute capital projects in support of a cGMP manufacturing facility. Includes involvement throughout the project life cycle including project scope, option analysis, engineering design, execution, and qualification.
• Develops, coaches and engages the engineering team and manage individual performance.
• Guides the engineering team with manufacturing processes, line layouts, fixture design, equipment qualifications, FAT/SAT, capability studies, documentation, LEAN techniques, etc.
• Possesses the ability to work independently and leads a team of engineers with design and implementation of larger projects.
• Provides process engineering technical support of manufacturing equipment and utilities.
• Leads system and equipment design and procurement.
• Drafts engineering documentation such as PFDs, ROIs, P&IDs, URSs, Design Specifications, RFQs, contractor bid packages, equipment data sheets, and validation documents.
• Prepares cost estimates for labor, tooling, and equipment and creates appropriation requests.
• Adheres to project timelines and budgets based on proposals and estimates.
• Partners with internal and external customers to execute projects.
• Provides quality support for manufacturing operations, including discrepancy, non-conformances, CAPA, investigation resolution, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment and processes, contamination investigations, instrument failures, and utilities.
• Identifies and implements improved processes, new equipment and operational continuous improvement opportunities.
• Provides technical training to manufacturing operations staff of processes, equipment, utilities, automation and operational changes.
• Clearly communicates with Manufacturing, Technical Operations, Facilities, and Quality staff at various levels to drive efficient issue resolution and change implementation.
• Provides support to manufacturing departments by collecting and processing information related to assigned projects, evaluating all information and alternatives, preparing and presenting plans, and recommending a course of action to management.
• Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products/processes, including the deployment and training of team members.
• Manages (i.e., plans, organizes, and executes) project assignments of varying complexity; prioritizes projects; determines project goals; maintains project schedule and tracks project milestones; selects methods and techniques to lead a project to completion; and evaluates outcomes.
• Possesses a strong background in the application of automation equipment (e.g., robotics, vision systems, assembly machines, etc.).
• Supports Packaging Engineering with packaging qualifications, changes, cost reductions and design for manufacturing recommendations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
How will you get here?
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field OR applicable experience in lieu of a degree may be considered
• Minimum of 6-10+ years of related Engineering experience
• Strong technical leadership and supervisory experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Business casual office environment
• Significant time each day spent in GMP manufacturing environment in which designated PPE will be required.
• Position will require sitting and standing.
• Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to design and modify fixturing and equipment
• Good organizational and project management skills
• Excellent problem solving and written/verbal communication skills
• Excellent computer skills (MSOffice®)
• Working knowledge of mainframe MRP/ERP systems (SAP® is a plus)
• Working knowledge of CAD (AutoCAD® is preferred)
