Our Internal medicine physician and Advanced Practice Providers oversee patient care in the clinical setting, in local nursing homes and provide coverage of Palliative Care in the inpatient setting. As a practice, they work closely with our Care Coordination Team on meeting patient’s care needs. In addition, providers are able to assist patients with needs such as DOT and FAA physicals as well as Annual Wellness Visits and Advanced Care Planning. Our providers apply clinical expertise to the diagnosis, treatment, and compassionate care of adults across the spectrum from health to complex illness. They are especially well trained in the diagnosis of puzzling medical problems, in the ongoing care of chronic illnesses, and in caring for patients with more than one disease. 

Expectations – Participate in a call coverage plan, scheduling in conjunction with other providers to cover night and weekend calls for patients and nursing home facilities. Ten days of the call, including one weekend per month is expected. How long is the wait for an appointment – 10 days wait time for new patients or follow up visits with the physician. The typical wait time for clinic visits with APP staff is 2-3 days for new patients and the same day for follow-up and acute visit needs. Equipment needs – The clinic has access to point of care testing for urine, blood glucose, INR. In addition, in-clinic EKG and bladder scan equipment on hand. Requirement:

(2) Years Experience in Geriatrics, Palliative Care or equivalent Education Successful completion of an approved advanced practice registered nurse program; must have a masters degree, post-master;s certificate, or doctoral degree; Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska or by a compact state under the Nurse Licensure Compact Act; current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the State of Nebraska. Prescriptive authority in Nebraska and DEA Certification. One year experience in hospital or clinic setting preferred. Credentials Prior to appointment to the Medical Staff, primary source verification is obtained, at a minimum, from the applicant's relevant education/training, past and present affiliations, peer references, licensures, certifications, and past and present medical liability insurance. Items that expire, such as licenses, certificates, boards, and insurance, are monitored on an ongoing basis. Good communication and knowledge with medical/clinical knowledge, technical and clinical skills, clinical judgment, interpersonal skills, communication skills, and professionalism.
