System Administrator

As a System Administrator you will be part of the industry-leading team that develops software solutions for clinical laboratories. You will maintain, upgrade, and manage software, hardware, and networks and communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users with the end goal of ensuring that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly. Ultimately, your contributions will enable clinical laboratories and physicians to deliver patient-specific diagnosis and treatments based on an individual’s DNA.
Responsibilities
- Install and configure software, hardware, and networks.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues/outages that arise.
- Ensure security and efficiency of IT infrastructure.
- Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements.
- Ensure security through access controls, backups, and firewalls.
- Upgrade systems with new releases and models.
- Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies.
- Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies.
- Respond to tickets and monitoring alerts from onsite and cloud-based systems.
- Escalate and route alerts and incidents to staff as necessary.
- Perform follow-up for escalated incidents where appropriate.
- Perform other responsibilities as directed by management.
- Document solutions to common issues in a knowledgebase.
Required Experience
- Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator?or similar.
- Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN), and patch management.
- Knowledge of system security (e.g., intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery.
- Experience with creation of scripts in Python, Perl or other language.
- Proficiency with various operating systems and platforms.
- Proven resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) preferred.
- Some amount of experience with Active Directory (Add/Delete/Manage Users/Group Policy), DNS.
Education
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
