THE POSITION

Sr Staff Electrical Engineer, Continental Tire The Americas, LLC, South Sumter, SC:

Engineer and design software requirements through Test Driven Development for Curing Specific Process Controls on the Edge. Manage key strategic development projects for the interfaces between machine controls and MES layer for Curing. Develop machine emulators for testing and release of solutions on the Edge before going to the machine. Provide technical services to the plants to ensure the efficient operation of machinery. Ensure the know how transfer and distribution between the tire plants and central units under the consideration of the lessons learned. Design and maintain PowerBI templates for data feedback measurement and maintenance of telemetry generated by Edge Applications. Support plants and developments through configuration and deployment of containerized apps using the Conti Pipeline. Develop OPC UA information models. Responsible for integration and mapping of all PLC types to OPC UA stack, with a strong focus on Data Type Management.

Provide 24/7 high level automation technical support for machines and manufacturing systems on an on-call basis.

Telecommuting permitted up to 1 day per week.

Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering or a related field, plus 5 years of related work experience.

Must have 5 years of experience in each of the following:

• Using PLC, Automation and Drives for troubleshooting, programming and making upgrades; and
• Using PLC programming for PLC logic modifications to support equipment process, quality, safety and productivity improvements.

Must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:

• Commissioning experience using Siemens and Beckhoff control systems, including Siemens SIMATIC Family, WinCC, PROFINET, Beckhoff TwinCAT System Manager and PLC Control, to support PLC logic modification and integration for Siemens and Beckhoff PLC and controls systems;
• Working in a tire manufacturing facility, including troubleshooting controls systems, integrating new functionalities, implementing process improvements and implementing manufacturing systems on tire manufacturing equipment;
• Using GitHub, Arango, SQL, Docker, Portainer, Octopus or Jenkins to support troubleshooting, design modification, and integration for manufacturing systems applications; and
• Using IPC Management, including PC, Windows, network and communication to ensure cybersecurity features are integrated with IPC integrations, upgrades, and modifications.

International travel required up to 25%. Domestic travel required up to 25%.
