THE POSITION
Sr. Staff Software Engineer, Continental Automotive Systems, Inc., Auburn Hills, MI:
Analyze user needs and system requirements for the implementation of software work products, including SW Requirements, Design, Architecture, Code Development and Test Cases. Lead and coordinate with System Lead, Software Architect and Software Product Owners to decompose higher level requirements and specifications. Establish project planning by defining programs increments (PI) with the team, implementing content in order to ensure the programs increments are completed in time, within the agreed scope and within budget. Ensure that all the software changes on the principal database are properly documented based on SW Releases planned. Create and communicate software status reports, monitor software metrics KPIs. Contribute with the identification of project needs in terms of resources, equipment and investments.
Telecommuting permitted up to 50%.
Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Software, Computer, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or foreign equivalent and 5 years of post-baccalaureate, progressive, related work experience.
Of the required experience, must have 5 years of experience in each of the following:
• Experience working as a SW Engineer in research and development for the automotive industry;
• Experience in using embedded systems in the automotive field;
• Experience in leading SW development teams, including defining the SW releases planning, analyzing customer needs and tracking the SW release scope, prioritizing and allocating reported defects in the program backlog, driving the team through problem-solving techniques to resolve blocking points, defining acceptance criteria for backlog items in collaboration with stakeholders or customers, working with other discipline leaders to decompose higher level requirements and specifications, coordinating meetings to determine what content needs to be implemented, ensuring the planned scope is completed in time, and within budget, and engage the team to review the results;
• Experience in working in a large and distributed project setup, including experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment of Requirements Engineering and Validation Software Architecture and Development as part of the software development process; and
• Experience in using IBM DOORS (for requirements management), Atlassian JIRA (for task and change management), Atlassian Confluence (for project reports and tracking) and PTC MKS/IMS (as code version control system), to report project status to stakeholders.
