We are seeking a skilled Sr. Process Development Engineer to join a food & beverage research & development team. This individual will work closely with product development scientists to advance new products from concept to market launch. This role involves refining manufacturing processes to ensure reliable production, boost efficiency, cut costs, enhance sustainability, and optimize profitability. The ideal candidate will manage material handling and batching processes, as well as collaborate with various departments to drive successful product introductions and continuous improvements. Location: approximately 30 minutes outside of Boston, MA Job Responsibilities:
- Design and implement projects focused on new products, processes, ingredients, and continuous improvement:
- Generate reports and write project proposals.
- Present design and research to internal customers.
- Actively engage cross-functionally to drive the Customer to Concept process and bring new products to market.
- Develop processes to meet production and consumer needs, measure process capabilities with the plants.
- Proactively maintain material handling, batching, and process and new technology and equipment to improve the process/efficiency of the business.
- Use and proactively share knowledge associated with statistical analysis, Design of Experiments, and Statistical Process Control.
- Author comprehensive process instructions/specifications.
- Travel required as needed for business; communicate with a supervisor when not manageable.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- 5+ years of food industry experience
- PhD/Masters/Bachelor of Science/Engineering degree in relevant scientific field of study
- Certifications such as Six Sigma and ELP are highly beneficial
- Strong technical knowledge of engineering and/or data analysis of food science, sensory science, and ingredient functionality/handling.
- Strong knowledge of Consumer-Packaged Goods product processes and line equipment.
- Understanding of technical process parameters associated with products and the relationship with Customer and Consumer needs.
- Deals with concepts and complexity; can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty; can decide and act without having the total picture.
- Strong self-accountability to meet deadlines and drive results; is accountable for own work; meets timelines and expectations; works independently and is accountable to deadlines while flexible to changing business needs.
- Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
