The Plating System Technician role focuses on the maintenance, enhancements, and continual improvements for the Plating Line work center & and associated systems (e.g., Castion/Waste treatment systems) (link removed)>
Examples of Duties:
Tank Chemistry maintenance: Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Continuous Improvement (CI) for quality and productivity
Various chemistry lab work
Daily monitoring and readings logging, analysis and actions as needed
Plating Rack PM
Overall plating machine PM
Daily/Weekly and other periodic inspections. Develop and maintain checklist of items to be inspected or testing along with the schedule and the work to that schedule. Take action on any findings.
Plating Issue Root Cause Analysis/Corrective action
CastION evaporation system operation
Waste treatment filter press operation
Ion Bed maintenance - e.g., regeneration
Boiler operator
General maintenance outside of the overall Plating systems - as needed
Job description
Overall operation of the waste treatment systems working directly with the plating department as the primary customer
Interpreting meter and gauge readings and tests results to determine and make operational adjustments to processes
Maintaining operations logs and recording meter and gauge readings, subsequently making adjustments as indicated
Checking machinery and equipment for malfunctions
Conducting regular preventive maintenance, repairs, cleaning, painting, and overhauls of machinery and equipment, including alarms
Compiling information on daily operator readings, chemical usages, field results, operator observations, chemical and equipment inventory, equipment history, equipment repair, and preventive maintenance to consequently update, input to computerized data bases, and review for optimization of operations and maintenance records
Accepting chemical deliveries to ensure all off-loading is performed to all safety standards and other regulations
Adhering to waste control requirements
Maintaining a clean and orderly treatment plant
Operating hand tools, power tools, and machinery in the fabrication, maintenance, repair and alteration of a wide variety of specialized wastewater plant collection, conveying and treatment equipment
Conducting site inspections of operations
Operating, monitoring, and maintaining chemical-feed equipment
Making routine laboratory tests at various stages of treatment in accordance with standardized procedures and adds treatment materials as required
Maintaining spare parts, chemical, and tool inventories
Performing all related duties to the operation and maintenance of the facility including but not limited to: painting, cleaning, calibrating, preventative maintenance, record keeping, ordering and purchasing supplies
Assisting in project planning, maintenance, and equipment upgrades
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
One-year certificate from college or technical school; 1+ year experience and/or training in the related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to:
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Write routine reports and correspondence
Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
Proven track record of original thinking and creativity with a proclivity to generate ideas and innovative approaches
Strong mathematical skills including an ability to calculate percentages, volume, proportions, etc.
Problem-solving and reasoning abilities
Plumbing and maintenance skills
Familiarity and comfort with technology and a working knowledge of the Internet, inventory and manufacturing software programs, Excel
Physical demands:
Standing, walking, reaching required frequently
Occasional stooping, crouching, kneeling, and crawling required
Frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds
Occasional team/partner-lift of up to 100 pounds
Close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth-perception vision required at all times
