You can read more about our commitment to diversity and mission here What We Are Looking ForWe are looking for Exercise Technicians (Ex Techs) to help oversee our Wellness areas, assist members with how to use the machines properly, provide members with fitness orientations and assist with the cleanliness of the wellness rooms. The ideal candidate will be friendly and outgoing, and comfortable socializing with people, they will also be detailed oriented and well-organized. A Day in the Life as an Excercise Technician As an Exercise Technician, you will be responsible for monitoring all the fitness areas of the facility including our wellness room, free weight room, and group exercise studios. You will be spending most of your shift socializing with members and helping them with their fitness needs, including setting up members with fitness orientations that correctly show them how to use the machines safely and properly. Ex Techs will also assist with the cleanliness of the wellness areas, including restrooms by periodically throughout your shift, wipe down machines and restroom areas. Responsibilities As an Excercise Technician - Ensure the safety of all participants in the Wellness Center. Respond to emergency situations
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including Emergency Procedures and Evacuation Plan
- Build effective relationships with members, help members connect with each other and the YMCA
- Be courteous, attentive, and respectful toward members
- Instruct orientation in the proper use of all equipment and exhibit proper exercise technique
- Conduct your discussions and exercise instruction with members within your scope of practice relative to your current level of professional, fitness industry certification(s)
- Maintain cleanliness and professionalism of Wellness Center desk, counter, shared office, closet, and surrounding spaces
- Complete hourly headcounts in the Wellness Center
- Adhere to daily maintenance schedule with reference to cleaning of machines, and folding sweat towels as needed. Restock cups, paper towels, and disinfectants as needed
- Exercise Technicians, once scheduled, must find an appropriate substitute when needed to always maintain a high-quality service to members
- Performs other duties as assigned
Who You Would Report to
Expected Hours Per Week - Part-time
- 10 hours
- Saturday 7:00 am to 11:00 am
- Sunday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Pay Range
Where You Would Be Working- GVYMCA Nazareth Branch: 33 S Main Street, Nazareth, PA 18064
Requirements - Working knowledge of strength, free weight, and cardio-respiratory equipment
- Ability to perform essential functions
- Ability to think independently and take direction
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting
- Good organizational and leadership skills
- Good analytical/critical thinking
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are required within thirty (30) days of employment
- Able to effectively communicate and build relationships with Y staff and members
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good customer service skills, high ethical standards, an appropriate professional image, and a team player
- Must possess sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment skills, and a positive attitude
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
- climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for an extended period, climb, walk, lift and/or move up to seventy-five pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear, and have visual acuity
- use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device
- The work is performed both indoors and out.
