Under direction of the Chief Information Officer, the Director of Software Engineering is responsible for producing scalable software solutions to enhance member and employee experience (link removed) Develops and maintain software development lifecycle strategy while adhering to agile development methodology and principles. Plans, consults, and coordinates complex project assignments in the design, development and implementation of applications software. Leads the development and coding of software applications while ensuring they are secure. Use expertise with web programming languages, APIs and other programming languages to eliminate roadblocks and engineer creative solutions that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. 35% - Responsible for building and deploying custom and off the shelf software packages and components to enhance the member experience. Solutions built in this role will encompass multiple technology disciplines and tools, and follow modern security best practices. Gather requirements from business owners and produce code that concisely satisfies those requirements. Learn new approaches to complex problems and building a foundation of good design and coding practices. 25% - Manage direct report (s) to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the company including: hiring, directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules. 15% - Leverages developer tools, languages and applications to solve business problems, improve performance, cultivate collaboration, enhance productivity and increase communication across the organization. 15% - Develops software solutions using appropriate programming languages (C#, .Net, HTML5, JavaScript, etc.) to design, develop and test custom applications and integrations when needed. Serves as the SME for all in-house developed applications. Proficient in developing queries and creating reports from Oracle and SQL Server. Integrate APIs for various systems. 10% - Provides thought leadership on best practices for solution design with an understanding of Information Architecture functionality including site mapping, application integration, enterprise search, taxonomy, and content classification. Ensures security standards are included, applied and maintained across all developed products and solutions. Develop and maintain Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) standards while adhering to Agile standards and methodology. Requirements Experience: Eight years to ten years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
Education/Certifications/Licenses: A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school equivalent to approximately 64 credit hours.
Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior level professionals is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogues, as well as a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position. Will work with management to propose and effectively promote solutions. Will need to be able to work closely with other departments and IT staff to successfully implement new solutions to the environment to minimize the downtime and the effect on the end users and the Credit Unions membership.
Other Skills: Extensive developer experience in relevant technologies including, but not limited to cloud, ASP.net Front End, API integration, SDK integration, SQL, JavaScript, C++ and C#, .Net framework, HTML5, JavaScript, etc. Ability to manage and work on multiple projects, tasks, and activities simultaneously. Maintain knowledge of IT industry through self-study and other approved training opportunities. Understand how to design API connections between multiple devices; innovative thinking and attention to detail. Experience in banking, finance, or Fintech sector.
ADA Requirements/Physical Requirements Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Working Conditions Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
