Indoctrinates new employees in the Health & Safety requirements. Provides handouts, conducts training,records training information, and provides other Health & Safety documents to employees.

Maintains confidential employee safety files as required by state, federal, OSHA laws, and corporate policy.

Aquires air-lead samples for up to 140 hourly employees and up to 30 salaried employees as required by OSHA. Interprets air-lead and blood-lead results and advises employees, supervision, and management, of necessary work practice improvements, department health concerns or MRP requirements. Maintains blood-lead records.

Performs respirator fit testing and hearing testing as required by OSHA.

Conducts monthly safety tours and meetings to recognize and evaluate safety hazards and solutions.

Interprets corporate safety policies and regulations to all employees.

Participates in the investigation of accidents and/or injuries, including filling out all of the proper paperwork.

Participates in the planning and executing safety information progrqams designed to improve efficiency and reduce absenteeism and accident rates.

Develops and schedules safety programs such as health education, accident prevention, Hazardous communication, emergency evacuation, etc.

Schedules and conducts annual lead training and hearing conservation tests and training for plant production and support workers as required by OSHA standards. Perform required training as required by OSHA.

Supply employees with personal protective equipment, and maintain inventory levels of that equipment.

Drive the safety portion of Exide's EXCELL lean manufacturing system through the plant, including the key performance indicators of employee blood leads and recordable accidents.
